It's a festive atmosphere when the Nuremberg Christkind opens the Market, reading the famous prologue from the balcony of the Our Lady's Church.

Colorful Impressions from all over the world

The Market of the Sister Cities brings every year an international flair to the Christkindlesmarkt. Many colorful stalls offer products from all over the world.

Historic pictures of the Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt

Nuremberg's Christmas Market is one of Germany's oldest Christmas fairs. The pre-Christmas event on Nuremberg's Main Market Square dates back to the mid 16th century. The first mention in writing is from 1628.

Unforgettable Impressions

Every year, people from all over the world visit what is probably Germany's most famous Christmas Market on Nuremberg's Main Market Square. On the Friday before the first Sunday in Advent, the Nuremberg Christmas Angel opens the market with her solemn prologue spoken from the gallery of Our Lady's Church. The Christmas Market with about 180 wooden booths deliberately restricts itself to traditional Christmas goods: spicy gingerbread, Zwetschgenmännle (little prune people), roast sausages, mulled wine, toys, Christmas decorations and arts and crafts.
